Reading activities include an alphabet soup matching game, a labeled family calendar, grocery lists made from flyers, finger tracing, and acting out story scenes. Mathematics activities use numbered beanbags, action dice, pretend eggs, number puzzles, and an egg-carton game for numbers 1, 2, and 3.
Cognitive activities include shape hunts, matching felt pictures, matching toys during cleanup, and shape sorting. Adaptive and language activities cover pretend food shopping, clothing and body-part identification, shoebox rooms, animal puppet play, and washing toy vehicles.

Balloons — including uninflated balloons and pieces of a burst balloon — are a serious choking hazard for young children. Keep all balloons, small parts and other small items out of your child's reach before, during and after any activity, and put them away as soon as you have finished.
Scissors and any other sharp materials are for the adult to handle. Do the cutting yourself and give your child the finished pieces.
You know your child best. If any activity does not feel safe for your child right now, skip it or change it — the goal is the skill, not the materials.
